Swarovski Paperweights

Shapes and Colors of Swarovski Paperweights

In the 1980's and 1990's, Swarovski produced many different paperweight shapes and colors, some of which were available in the USA only. Other paperweight shapes and colors were designated "European market Only", but seemed to be available many places outside of North America. There are so many Swarovski paperweight combination of shapes and colors, that it makes it difficult for crystal fanatics have nearly every unique paperweight in a collection.

Swarovski Paperweight Colors

Many of Swarovski Paperweights were available in up to 10 different colors from the factory:

  • Bermuda Blue. The Swarovski Bermuda Blue color is generally varying shades of blue.

  • Clear. The Swarovski Clear color is colorless, clear. But it should be be confused with the "Crystal CAL" color, as there is no mirror coating on any side of the paperweight.

  • Crystal Cal. The Swarovski Crystal Cal color is colorless, clear. But it should be be confused with the "Clear" color, as the Crystal Cal (official color) as a Comet Arget Light mirror coating in the base.

  • Helio. The Swarovski Helio color is generally varying shades of purple. Sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish Bermuda Blue and Helio as sometimes the paperweight may appear to have both colors.

  • Inn Green. The Swarovski Inn Green color is generally a solid green.

  • Sahara. The Swarovski Sahara color is mostly yellowish / sandish in color. Thinking of the Sahara Dessert would be a good way to remember the shades of this color.

  • Tabac. The Swarovski Tabac color is generally brownish. Since Tabac is German for tobacco, this makes a convenient method remember this color.

  • Vitrail Medium. The Swarovski Vitrail Medium color is hot pink / fuscia, with green or blue. It very much has a rainbow effect when viewing. Vitrail Medium is the most commonly found color of paperweight in the USA.

  • Vitrail Light. The Swarovski Vitrail Light color is a faint pink and blue. Sometimes paperweights are more dominantly pink, while others are more dominantly blue, but both are properly identified as Vitrail Light.

  • Volcano. The Swarovski Volcano color is a mixture of the vibrant colors of red and blue. Some people even say that it resembles hot lava flowing!

Swarovski Paperweight Shapes

Swarovski Paperweights were available in numerous shapes and sizes:

  • Swarovski Atomic. The Swarovski Atomic Paperweight is sort of beer-barrel shaped, but is the not the same as the officially-named Swarovski Barrel paperweight. The Swarovski Atomic paperweight has 6-sided facets, somewhat resembling a honeycomb.

  • Swarovski Barrel / Swarovski Revolution / Swarovski Granate. The Swarovski Barrel Paperweight is shaped like beer-barrel. The facets on the Barrel paperweight are 4 sided, like a rectangle. The Barrel is also know as the Swarovski Revolution Paperweight The and Swarovski Granate Paperweight depending on the region. (read the Atomic Paperweight description for a similar paperweight)

  • Swarovski Carousel. The Swarovski Carousel paperweight shape can be easily defined only one way....like a cupcake! Is is smaller in diameter at the base, getting wider with height, but then quickly getting smaller to come to a near point, hence the unofficial name Swarovski Cupcake.

  • Swarovski Cone / Swarovski Rio. The Swarovski Cone is similar to a faceted cone. The design was an inspiration for the sight of the Sugarloaf Mountain in the harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

  • Swarovski Chaton. The Swarovski Chaton resembles a diamond (gemstone) shape. The Chaton Paperweight was released in clear only. There are several sizes of the Swarovski Chaton paperweight.

  • Swarovski Egg. Just as it sounds, the Swarovski Egg paperweight is shaped like an egg. And there are 2 slightly different shapes of the egg, depending on whether is is clear or colored. The colored versions appear to have a base (for the color), and are more pointed at one end.

  • Swarovski Geometric. Also, known as the Swarovski Geo, the Swarovski Geometric Paperweight is basically a roundish, 6-sided paperweight. It is not appear to have an obvious "base". The Geo paperweight was released in clear only.

  • Swarovski Octron. Just like its name suggests, the Swarovski Octron Paperweight has exactly 8 sides: 4 large facets and 4 small facets.

  • Swarovski Pyramid, Large. The Swarovski Pyramid is a 4 sided crystal paperweight. It is the most simple, with the least number of facets of all the paperweights. The Swarovski Large Pyramid Paperweight is only 1/2" taller than the Swarovski Small Pyramid Paperweight. The Swarovski Pyramid Paperweight was originally name the Swarovski Pharaoh Paperweight.

  • Swarovski Pyramid, Small. The Swarovski Pyramid is a 4 sided crystal paperweight. It is the most simple, with the least number of facets of all the paperweights. The Swarovski Small Pyramid Paperweight is only 1/2" shorter than the Swarovski Large Pyramid Paperweight. The Swarovski Pyramid Paperweight was brief ely knows as the Swarovski Pharaoh Paperweight.

  • Swarovski Round Ball. The Swarovski Round Ball Paperweight can be found in many different sizes. Documented findings reveal the round ball in 30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, 70mm, and 100mm diameters. (For the round ball shape, read on about Swarovski logos on paperweights)

Swarovski Custom Paperweights

Swarovski offers paperweights available for customization. Various shapes, sizes, and colors are available. Collectors should not be fooled into thinking that a customized Swarovski paperweight is valued significantly higher than the official Silver Crystal / Crystal Colors paperweights. Are they more difficult to find and unusual? Certainly, since a much smaller number is likely produced! But unless the customized design itself has extraordinary value, the paperweights themselves may not sell at significantly different prices.

Swarovski Logos on Paperweights

Most of the Swarovski Paperweights were produced from the mid 1980's through the early 1990's. For this reason, the majority of Swarovski paperweights will contain either the Block SC logo or the Swan logo. That being said, some Swarovski paperweight were produced in the late 1970's and may be found without logos etched into the crystal or they may have foil stickers (for the Block SC) attached to the felt base.

Additionally, the round balls were produced as both Swarovski Silver Crystal paperweights and under the product line 'Crystal Colors'. Swarovski Crystal Colors paperweights were not generally packages in the older gray cylinders, but instead in plastic boxes or simple cardboard boxes. Crystal Colors paperweights were not marked with the Swarovski logo.
